Accelerated Reader

What is Accelerated Reader?

Accelerated reader is a literacy enhancement program that enables us to monitor the students’ reading progress.

How the program works:

Every term all students in the Academy undertake a Star Reading Test, which is a diagnostic reading assessment tool. This test provides us with the details of the students’ reading range and Zone of Proximal Development , which is used to choose books from the Book Loft so that students will have success in reading and will make good progress.

After a student reads a book, that student is required to fill in the reading log provided by the Academy and then take a computerised test using a NEO2 keyboard or a computer which are available in their classes and in the Book Loft . At the end of each test a report is printed, this lets the student and teacher know immediately how a particular student is progressing.

Are you a parent of a child who attends the Academy?

If so, you too can access the information to see your child progress using a Home Connect Service available to all parents.
What is Home Connect?

Home Connect is a special feature which can be accessed outside of the school from any computers with an Internet Connection to monitor a child’s progress. Home Connect is fun and easy to use. It allows teachers, parents and students to share information about a student’s progress in Accelerated Reader.
